Angela is in her final year of university, excelling academically but neglecting her worldly education — until she is taken up by a team of would-be Pygmalions. The clever, concerned Brownlows, with their friends Helen and Zachary Willis, the last of the Laurentian lovers who see sex as the answer to all life's problems, help to transform the ugly duckling. The newly-confident Angela is swept off her feet by the suave young painter Halley Cadillon, but finally recognises that she can take artistic control of her own life.
