"Jack's Ward" is founded upon a story which the author published some years since anonymously. It has been wholly rewritten, considerably enlarge, and, it is hoped, improved. I offer it to my young readers in its present form as the second volume of the "Brave and Bold" Series. I shall have reason to be gratified if it receives as warm a welcome as its predecessor.
